Crackly sound with USB Dac (debian wheezy)

Hi

I have a usb dac which plays flawlessly if I do not do anything! If, however, I scroll up and down web pages in firefox & chrome then it crackles and makes the sound unbearable (although strangely not in opera).

It worked fine on linux mint 12. Out of desperation I installed mint 15 but it didn't work. I am now back on debian (again not working) and am pulling my hair out trying to get this sorted, having been googling for longer than I care to remember.

I have tried uninstalling pulse audio to no avail. I have also tried using different permuatations of plugins via gstreamer-properties.

Some details may prove helpful

aplay -l

Code:
**** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices ****
card 0: DAC [UAC1 DAC], device 0: USB Audio [USB Audio]
  Subdevices: 0/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: Intel [HDA Intel], device 0: CONEXANT Analog [CONEXANT Analog]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
card 1: Intel [HDA Intel], device 1: Conexant Digital [Conexant Digital]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0
Please please help me resolve this annoying problem. Any other details needed please let me know.

Over to you!

A quick search might of found some useful information. I would assume the problem is unrelated to the web browser and strictly a USB issue with low and high speed devices.

Making sure you have this kernel option enabled.
CONFIG_USB_EHCI_TT_NEWSCHED

And I also found someone where the nvidia driver was causing similar problems. Switching to nouveau had solved their issues.

Thanks for the reply

I have indeed searched google. Would enabling the kernel option entail recompiling my kernel? If so, that's too complicated at present as this was posted in the newbie section. In fact, this is my first post here in five years as I haven't been using linux...

I will investigate the nouveau option further..

Thanks again.

Welcome back and yes it would require a recompile.
