CPU & memory utilization

Hi,

I would like to monitor at least the CPU and memory utilization (better average io actity) from the command line. I do not want to use anything graphical. ps - as far as I have seen - show me per-process counts, but I would like to see the overall system activity.

When I was last active in *nix (some 10 years ago ) there was a nice tool "sar" that did this job. So what is it called today ;-).

Thanks,
Rainer

argh... I searched for quite a while, but once I posted this, I finally had the (obvious) idea to google for "sar linux" ... and voila - it just needs to be installed ;-)

The RedHat 9 rpm is sysstat-4.0.7-3.i386.rpm.

Hope this may help some others...

Rainer
