Unhappy

I have managed to install Mandrake 7.2 - just fine.
It did recognise all my hardware as I could see in the Karnel message.(as well as on the boot).

However, it does not allow me access to either one of my CDROMs (Pioneer 24x SCSI AdvanSys and HPRW 7100i IDE) as well as my floppy drive.

From either root or any other profiles it just tells me no right to access these drives "could not enter /mnt/cdrom(even though the permissions are set for all of them at rwxrwxrwx).

Pls. help

THANX

Does the link for /dev/CDROM point at the right device?
Run "ls -l /dev/CDROM"
At the far right what does it say it is pointing to?
Make sure it is the right device, for ide the devices are:
hda - Primary master
hdb - Primary slave
hdc - Secondary master
hdd - Secondary slave

try this one

hi ,
u just see that urs /mnt/cdrom is properly pointing to the device .all the device can be see as hda(hard disk generaly),hdab(secoind hard disk if any), or hdc(cdrom).
after that also see the entry in /etc/fstab.
u can do all these thing on command promt or linuxconf from the graphical mode.
hope after checking these thing u'll be able to fix it.
bye enjoy linux world
