cant log on to red hat 9 and i know my password

how do i log on to rh9 ? long time windows user and i thought i would leave the darkside and come to the light. but first it would be nice to log on to the operating system. i know my password that i created in the installation process. does that help?

Yes knowing you password is a good help (it is in fact required, unless You added another user)
when you boot the system, you should see a graphical screen, where you can type in your user name (if you did create another user, type that name, otherwise type root as user name, be aware that for root, there is no limitations, so you a wrong command, could destroy all you files
when asked for the passwd, type in the passwd you choses when you install RH 9.

thanks for the suggestion. i wish they would cover this topic in the books. by the way could you offer a good chat line to help me work through some of the early stages of linux. the forums are great but i need immediate assistance.
