You install perl in a VMWare guest in exactly the same way as you would if it were a real machine -- this is usually done using the distribution's package manager.
If you need help with it or you have other problems you will need to state which distribution you are using and what the problems you are seeing are.

Which Linux distribution are you using?
More importantly, why have you not read the help pages for the distribution you are using?

If I'm reading correctly that is an obsolete release of Red Hat Linux so I wouldn't expect to be able to install anything on it especially a recent version of Perl.
You should probably be using either CentOS or Fedora instead and they should have a package for Perl in their repositories.

As 273 said, that's so out of date https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_Ha...ersion_history you are wasting your time.
Get Centos https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Centos, a free version of RHEL https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhel
