can not connect to sound server

Hi,

I just installed the new Mandrake 10.2 Limited addition on my PC. I am having trouble in getting my sound to work. Initially I got an error with Amarok...it gave me a segfault and said that it could not connect to sound server. Now, I don't get that error however I can't hear any sound.

When I first had linux about a year back I had no problems with sound. However now after a year when I move back to linux I having a mjor problem gettign my sound card configured.

Following are my sound card details:

Creative Sound Blaster Live 24-bit

One more thing...I actually have two sound cards now( I didn't have the creative sound card a year back when I first had linux)...one is a built in sound card which came with my machine... I don't use that any more. The creative sound card works properly on windows. I don't know if this is a drivers issue or something else that I am doing wrong.

I would really appreciate all the help possible

Thanks,
moy021

make sure you have disabled the onboard card in your BIOS.
then check check the output of
dmesg
to see if your sound card is recognized by the kernel.

Thanks...for all the help.
I can hear sound now but its kind of muffled and seems like my songs are running faster than the normal speed.

Any idea how I can fix this problem.

Appreciate all the help!

Thanks
