can't access internet when using wireless - Dell Inspiron N5050 - Linux Mint 13
Hi,
I am running Linux Mint 13 Maya and it has been working fine until yesterday when I tried using my home wireless. I am getting IP, sub, gate and DNS but when I try to browse the internet it does not work. However, if I connect my laptop to the wireless router using a patch cable, it works fine. For some reason, the wireless card is not transmitting DNS information any more. To troubleshoot I installed the Broadcom STA restricted driver but still it does not work. I know it is a DNS issue because if i type google's server IP on my browser, google comes up.
I also tried using static IP and DNS but it did not work.
Please help:

It says.. "Boot hangs on systems with b43 wireless cards". Youre?
So, I suggest you have a look at the mint13 forum and see the solving method.
Sorry, it was my work and school wireless, my laptop works with my home wireless. I have two Verizon and linksys. The subnets are 192.168.1.x and 192.168.15.x. what would the problem be?
your card 09:00.0 Network controller: Broadcom Corporation BCM4313 802.11b/g/n Wireless LAN Controller (rev 01)
your distro announcement http://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=2031Boot hangs on systems with b43 wireless cards (same as per xfce)
I repeat: is it THE MINT13 issue you have?
perhaps not.
OK, I went home yesterday and the wireless was working fine then I came to work and it does not work. By the way, my wireless works fine when I boot using windows 7...
If the wireless works at home and doesn't work at work, the odds are that the issue is not your computer, but rather the wireless at your work or the settings you are using for the encryption.
Wow Frankbell, this is a hard one to troubleshoot... I used to have Ubuntu 12.04 installed on this laptop and I never had any problems either at work, school or home. I think I am bringing Ubuntu back. I don't have time to troubleshoot and I need to be able to access the internet from wherever.
Thank you guys for your help!
--Cheers!
