Bootable live linux on both pcs and macs

Hi,
I downloaded a live linux iso which I want to put on an external ssd.
I want to be able to boot from the external HDD on both pcs and macs but I can't find any clue on how to do this. Does anyone know where should I start?
Thanks

A place to start if you want suggestions is to indicate which of the 500+ Linux distributions you have or want. It would also be useful to know whether you want an install using Legacy or UEFI. I don't use Macs so I'm not sure what options you will have. With a standard Legacy install, you would simply identify the SSD with the fdisk or parted commands and install to a partition on that drive and install Grub or other bootloader to the MBR of that drive. UEFI is a different process.

Hello and welcome to LQ.

BeOS used to have a cd that would boot to both pc and mac at one time. They did some wild tricks but I don't think you'd have to. I think the only thing you'd need is to decide if you have two uefi systems or one to start.

Even if you had to install two systems on this external ssd it would still be find. You can install a uefi for the mac and one for pc.

The issue gets kind of murky as pc could mean 32 bit only system or secure boot uefi system.

A start. https://www.howtogeek.com/213396/how...e-on-your-mac/

I don't think you want to leave it as an iso but you could actually boot from grub or grub4dos sort of deal to boot directly to an iso.
