Angry Boot problems with Ubuntu and Ubuntu/Debian derivatives eg Mint etc.

Hello All,Can't seem to fully boot into Ubuntu or other distros based on Ubuntu/Debian.This includes any live versions or other installation methods.I get as far as the row of 5 small dots that light one after the other. This goes on for several minutes then it all freezes even my hdd shows no sign of activity.I don't have any problems with Fedora or Mandriva based distros, or any other types, just seems to be any distros based on Ubuntu/Debian.
The problem is the same if i use WUBI.
Running a DELL Inspiron 2200.

As fair as fair suggests, did you attempt any of the failsafe modes?
