Blackbuntu is currently based on Ubuntu 10.10, it simply may be possible that it lacks drivers for your wireless device that are present in Ubuntu 11.04 or newer. May be you should try Backtrack 5 R2, it has a far newer kernel and therefor better support for newer devices.
