Hello all-
When I installed Red Hat 8.0 I specified much too high of a resolution (it was 1152 x something...) and after a few minutes of working in KDE I decided to push it down to 1024 x 768. I logged off, and instead of the graphical log on screen, I just got black. I powered off and back on and it ran through all of the normal text start up stuff, but it went black again at the point where it usually shows the graphical log on.
Did I break X windows? How can I get back in to undo whatever I did? And what did I break by changing the resolution?

Im thinking either your monitor or your graphics card couldn't support that high of a resolution. Either way you need to edit your /etc/X11/XF86Config file. Pop in RH 8.0 CD 1, reboot, and get to a console. Open XF68Config and scroll down to Subsection "Display" Take out the "1152x768" line, and any higher resolution lines. Save, reboot, and cross your fingers.
