backup disk full
hey guys
i run a couple RHEL servers that backup to another couple of servers through rsync. the backups are stored on their own hard drives on those units. i got a msg this morning that disk usage was at 100% on one of the backup drives.
i went ahead and changed our rsync scripts to backup less and then rm -rf on several of the unnecessary folders. this should have freed up over 120GB of space. after i deleted those folders from that drive, the df -h output still remained at 100%.
i figured that the files were still in use or something and wouldn't show as free space until after an unmount or reboot. i rebooted the backup server that contains the backup drive.
of course when it came up, i'm still looking at 100% full. what did i miss? the lost+found folder on the backup drive is empty, the folders that i did delete are indeed not there, but the space isn't reclaimed as free....
any advice?
