Any difference in speed between Ubuntu, Xubuntu, & Puppy w/ 512mb RAM?

Do you think there would be a significant difference in speed between Ubuntu, Xubuntu, and Puppy?

18gb hd
512mb RAM
Pentium III
448.1 MHz (I think! That number showed up on a tool in DBAN)

Yep
Puppy (most) use JWM desktop and run entirely in ram

Ubuntu's, to my knowledge, must be mounted to hd, usb, and/or casper-rw

Cool

OK. One more thing: I plan to do a frugal install. Would it be a good idea to partition a couple hundred megabytes as linux-swap? Thanks!

btw, how many hours a day are you on lq?
