I have the Zyxel 550 wireless router. I updated the flash, and apparently killed the router. It's now out of warranty, and would probably cost me as much to send it for reflashing as it would to just buy a new one.
Is there a way to reflash a dead router without sending it for repair? I mean, the manufacturer does it somehow. I'm not opposed to opening the unit, if that's what it would require.
There might be a JTAG connector on the board. You can build a suitable cable to to interface with a computer. More information can be found by googling.
Thanks for the info. Upon initial reading, looks interesting. I'm not an electronics expert, but maybe something I'm willing to try. It's dead anyway, so if I screw something up, it won't be such a huge loss.
