Why do i lose the network connection!

Hello!

(I got Mandriva 2008, with latest updates, installed from the 3 cd:s)

I'm really tired of this problem.

When I start my computer I very often, like 3 of 4 times, it get no network connection.
When it get it, it very often just hold it for 2 minutes, then it lose it again.
Argh!!!

I got a small LAN connected to the Internet and all my Windows computer have no problems at all.

Is there anything I can do?

My network card is:
Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd RTL8111/8168B PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet controller eth0.

My settings is:
Automatic IP (BOOTP/DHCP) = selected
Get DNS from servers from DHCP = checked
DHCP client = dhcpcd
DHCP host name = linux_2

My Router is:
Zyxel
And I have reserved a ip for all machines.
(I have tried with no reserved ip as well)

During start up I can very often see that it halts and wait a long time after something called ALSA...

Do any one have any idea what to do??
Is there anything like in DOS:
ipconfig release
ipconfig renew
...in linux?

Best regards
Fredrik

ifconfig -a

mtu ?

man ifconfig

netstat

/sbin/ifup

firewall configuration ?

drop connection after sometime?

Your router is configured, I believe. So you just need to connect to it.

Best
