Weird Network Problem on RHEL5
I am having some weird problems with the network connection on my server which is running RHEL5. Please note that my eth0 is configured with two IP addresses(192.168.2.43,192.186.3.3).
It seems that it requires some time to respond to the every first request in every connection. For example, whenever I ping the machine from another machine(192.168.3.2,same subnet/LAN), the first ping response time would be much longer.
PING 192.168.3.3 (192.168.3.3) 56(84) bytes of data.
64 bytes from 192.168.3.3: icmp_seq=1 ttl=64 time=1.45 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.3.3: icmp_seq=2 ttl=64 time=0.150 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.3.3: icmp_seq=3 ttl=64 time=0.153 ms
64 bytes from 192.168.3.3: icmp_seq=4 ttl=64 time=0.148 ms
The problem happens with other applications(FTP,MySQL,SSH) I have tried too. For example, it requires more than 10 seconds to authenticate the login.
[13:32:15] Connecting to 192.168.3.2 -> IP=192.168.3.3 PORT=21
[13:32:15] Connected to 192.168.3.3
[13:32:15] 220 (vsFTPd 2.0.5)

[13:32:15] 331 Please specify the password.
[13:32:15] PASS (hidden)
[13:32:24] 230 Login successful.
If I remove the default route/gateway, everything works flawlessly. When I ran 'route', the first three routes are displayed immediately and the last row(default gw) only comes out after around 10 seconds.

Can anyone help me? I highly suspect this has something with the ARP issue...Thanks.
