want to setup an email server

I just got myself a domain name.

Now i want to setup an email server to send and receive mail through me@mydomian.org (that really isn't it)

So my question is: What program(s) do i need/should i use to make this happen.

I am running Slackware 8.1 it comes with fetchmail, sendmail, and popa3d installed. Will these do it? If so how do i begin the setup?

I'm rather new to linux so instructions in babysteps would be nice.

Perhaps if someone has an icq or aim account and would want to chat about the setup please email me and we can setup a time to talk.

If not please reply any input here.

Thank You,

dhanraj thank you for the reply, i have read the stuff at sendmail.org and i just checked out the other link you had, it seems to me that sendmail is the most difficult service to configure on linux and no one can create a HOW TO with reasonable explanations. I don't understand the docs on sendmail.org or any other that i have found
