wake on lan

I am running a Red Hat Linux 9 system. I tried to configure the computer to wake on lan. I have a wol compatible network card witch does it by the PCI port (no wol cable needed). How can I set it up to work??
When I tried to config the card with "ethtool -s eth0 wol g" i get an error saying the "Operation is not supported". That's odd.
PLEASE HELP

What does "ethtool eth0" tell you? Your network card might not be supported by ethtool.
