Question The computer on Slackware 15 64 does not see SAMBA domain resources.

There is a network of ~ 15 computers, it has 2 servers: one file server on Linux Slackware 14.2 64, with a SAMBA PDC domain, the other - DHCP. Workstations mostly WinXP, 2 under Slackware 14.2 64.

There is a new computer bought to replace the operating computer on WinXP. I installed Slackware 15 64 on it, and so, this new one does not see the domain resources, the network is there - the Internet works, but it does not see the shared domain directories. The name of the computer and the user are in the SAMBA database.

What could be wrong?
Please help me solve the problem.

The computer on Slackware 15 64 does not see SAMBA domain resources.

At some point between Slackware 14.2 and Slackware 15.0, there were some big security upgrades to SAMBA. These upgrades included disabling some old protocols by default because they are insecure.

You need to tell Slackware 15 to enable those protocols if you want to use them.

Do some reading on the "min protocol" directive in SAMBA.

In addition as of version 4.11 smb1 was disabled by default and as of 4.16 it was removed.

SMB1 used netbios browsing and is built in to all of the file browsers to show resources from Windows computers and other linux computers running samba. As posted if your not running version 4.16 you can add the min protocol directive to your smb.conf file. WinXP only supports smb1.
