Hi,
I am having problems sharing my 3G internet connection on my iPhone with my Ubuntu 10.04 computer. This is strange, because I have installed all packages I could find concerning iPhone tethering to Ubuntu.
This includes ipheth-*, libimobiledevice-*, ifuse, usbmixd and gtkpod. It has been working before, but stopped for some reason (might be system update).
The system recognizes the iPhone as being connected, and wwan0 shows as an option in the Network Manager, but it seems unable to connect. It tries to connect for ten seconds or so, then admits its failure and proclaims disconnection from network, all while the iPhone is charging though not showing the blue tethering bar.
The dmesg outputs:
Code:
dmesg | iPhone
[ 2033.374337] ipheth 1-2:4.2: Apple iPhone USB Ethernet device attached
so I suppose that that it recognizes the phone.
Though, I can't seem to access the phones internal disk via Nautilus or gtkPod, which suggests incomplete or unsuccesful connection.
Have tried fixing it with git:
Code:
git clone git://github.com/dgiagio/ipheth.git
...
cd ipheth/ipheth-pair
make
...
sudo make install
...
cd /home/USER/ipheth/ipheth-driver
make
...
sudo insmod ipheth.ko
insmod: error inserting 'ipheth.ko': -1 File exists
but end up with an error, which I suppose tells me that I already have the necessary files installed.
Can anyone suggest a solution to this issue?
Regards,
