simple question

This is probably a fairly common question, but I haven't had time to search all that much on it. I'm using a DSL connection on my Windows partition. The company that I subscribe to (Bell - Sympatico) provides it's own software for windows to connect with, but does not provide anything for linux. Does this mean that I'm screwed with Linux or is still posible to configure an Internet connection on Linux without the company software?

NOT STUCK

There's ways to connect your linux machine to your dsl, a lot of people are doing that here. you have to use pppoe to get authenticated. I'm sure someone who does that will post their response here.

I'm lucky though, my DSL provider gave me 5 static IP addresses, so I dont have to do that. BUT others here use PPPOE.

I want 5 static IPs too!!!

Hejduk, check out Roaring Penguin. That's what I use with Bellatlantic and it works just fine.

Good luck

If your DSL modem connects to your machine with anything except ethernet you will have to find Linux drivers for the hardware. My last DSL provider gave me some crappy internal DSL modem that had no known Linux support for. I ditched the company and found one that gave me a static IP and an external ethernet DSL modem.
