setting up WIFI in orace linux possibe????


hi everyone

i tried oracle linux and like the look and feel of it, i understand its not really a desktop/laptop distro but id like too use it on my acer laptop problem is i cant seem too get the wifi working. and i have no clue what i need too get it up and running.

anyone out there who can get wifi up and running would be great for me.

Good news for you. Oracle is well documented. Not only that, it is quite similar to Red Hat, Centos and Fedora. Almost any trouble shooting on those search terms will usually bring you up to speed.

In most cases your board has a wifi chip that isn't part of the server type kernel. Or the make of the nic offers a driver that isn't open sourced exactly.

What you want to do is start by identifying the wifi chip. I'd use commands like lspci and maybe modprobe.
