set preference value for a vlan in a router (IPv6)

Hello All,

Situation:
We have one router (not sure of the model need to check from customer) which has two vlan suppose A and B.

VLAN A is connected to bond 1 and VLAN B is connected to bond 2 and both with IPv6. We observed that when VLAN A goes down then bond 1 starts sending traffic using VLAN B which is creating problems for us.

Can anyone help me here is there any way I can restrict the router or node to stop sending traffic/advertisements in case VLAN A is not reachable. bond 1 should NEVER use VLAN B.

I was checked RFC4191 to set preference value but I see those are when we have 2 or more routers where we can set preference value.

I just need to understand what I want is possible and if YES then how and where should I make the necessary changes? on the router? or on the OS?

BTW we are using SuSE Linux OS 11 SP3.

Thanks

Depending on how you setup the VLAN. Tagged or Untagged. Tagged settings are to be handled by the client. Untagged goes to the router. (Simplified view).

Do you have some intervlan routing setup in the router?
Do you have the same gateway for both vlans?
How can a VLAN go down? Normaly only links/ports go down...
