server with 2 lan cards.

hi,

i was configuring a proxy on centos6. GUI also installed. server has 2 lan cards. if add ip address for 2 lan cards by clicking on network connections icon, ip is created but /etc/sysconfig.../ifcfg-eth1 file is not created. if i create file manually for 2 lan cards eth1 and eth2 after restarting with ifconfig command both eth1 and eth2 shows the same ip that but i open /etc/sysconfig.../ifcfg-eth1 & eth2 they both show different ips as i assigned. Please tell me is there any way to assign ips for 2 lan card. do i have to create the ifcfg-eth file manually or what ?

please guide me how to assign ips... please

help me .

thank you.

You can enable NetworkManager with
Code:
chkconfig NetworkManager on
then start it with
Code:
service NetworkManager start
then you'll be able to see the NetworkManager icon on your notification area in your Gnome environment in which you can configure both ethernet cards. It's useful even in case of wireless connections.

You can assign 2 different IPs for different LAN cards. Try modifying the file /etc/sysconfig/network-interface/eth0 and eth1 to make the changes. Or, you can also use the graphical method to assign the IPs.

Thanks
