Question Sendmail & dovecot Inbox problem

hi,
i just reinstalled a new fedora Core 3...

because my previouse system was seriousely fucked up...
well i use sendmail & dovecot now..
also installed webmin..

i can login now and it seems like everything works correct..
until i sent my self a mail..
now i get this:

telnet compnetix.nl 110
Trying 83.98.251.162...
Connected to compnetix.nl (83.98.251.162).
Escape character is '^]'.
+OK dovecot ready.
user fatum
+OK
pass ******
+OK Logged in.
-ERR No INBOX for user.
Connection closed by foreign host.

i checked with sendmail..
it seems sendmail only dumps incoming mails to /var/spool/mail
in a file with the username

i also looked my username fatum up..
it has a file in /home/fatum/mail
but it's empty and has no other files or anything in it..

i have also been able to configure sendmail auth
does anyone know how to install the auth module without reinstalling sendmail?

with kind regards,
Fatum

Have you edit the local-host-names file in the sendmail folder?

hi, futum112,

I'm sorry to tell you that sendmail put relayed mails under /var/spool/mail , in which there are lots of files named by your local users. However, once a user read a mail, this mail is transfered to another file mbox under his home dir.

Therefor, my pal, you should double check the configuration file of the dovecot to see if you have set *the mail location* correctly.

Wish you goodluck!

cnzhannet
