Then try this as the uri.

smb://usernameassword@quox/aqua-q/zorex

The username and password have to be valid. It is strange that the windows machine nor workgroup is showing up in smbclient.
good luck.

Were you able to select your printer? Is the ppd file in the proper place? How about the username and password. Please post the contents of /etc/cups/printers.conf.
good luck.

For some reason the cups did not configure the printer. Here is my printers.conf file for comparison.

Code:
# Printer configuration file for CUPS v1.1.19
# Written by cupsd on Sat Apr 3 10:02:35 2004
<DefaultPrinter hppsc2110>
Info HP PSC 2110, hpijs
Location
DeviceURI smb://peacedog:password@WORKGROUP/PEACEDOG/hppsc2110
State Idle
Accepting Yes
JobSheets none none
QuotaPeriod 0
PageLimit 0
KLimit 0
AllowUser peacedog
AllowUser root
</Printer>
Yours has not been generated properly. Try removing the printer and adding it again. If you can get a test page to print you should be ok.
good luck.

Is the user "print" in the uri a valid user, or is it symbolic? Yours does not contain these two lines.

AllowUser peacedog
AllowUser root

good luck.

print is a valid user

i think that if the 2 lines really mattered, wouldn't it show an error message when i try to print?

thanks for your help

sorry i havent replied in a while, i've had a lot of homework

i would show you the error_log file but it is too long and linuxquestions.org forbids me from posting a reply that long

most of the file says

Code:
E [12/Sep/2004:11:53:18 -0700] [Job 3] Unable to connect to SAMBA host, will retry in 60 seconds...ERROR: Connection failed with error NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
thanks for your help

Believe me, I understand the homework thing, it's been a while, but not forgotten. That said, try adding the printer with this uri.

smb://print:monsters@aqua-q/zorex

I believe somehow the network path and or users are the cause of the problem. Did you try removing the printer, and adding it from scratch? Double check the windows machine for firewalls. I know this is frustrating, hang in there.
good luck.

good luck.

When you say you disabled the firewall on the windows box, did that include the icf from within windows? One other thing, which driver are you using?
good luck.
