Router/NAT/Firewal

Hello, I'm pretty new in linux. I want 2 use it as a router for internet. I use 2 nic one with static ip for my internal network(where i want 2 use my rh7.2 as DHCP server), and the other for dynamic ip from the isp via dhcp.
I cant get the internal network to ping beyond the nic for internet.
How do i set up the routes since i have a dynamic ip from my isp?
i only get to set up the nic with dhcp via netconfig command. where do i save the configuration.
I'm not that learned man at linux to ask sensible questions, but if anything, please ask..

Maybe this wouldn't help you but I bought a Linksys DSL/router (BEFSR41) which works for me. It has NAT firewall and it works 100% with my Linux box and Linux server on my LAN. You can get a new one for 100 bucks or used one on Ebay for 50 bucks or less/more. Have fun :-)

I would suggest that you get a pre-built router unless you want to put a good bit of time and effort into making a linux box work. I personally enjoy working with mine so I am building myself one from scratch. You will want to do some research on iptables and ip masquerade. find some howtos on what you need to do and that should help you out bunch. To get around the dynamically assigned IP you use the interface name (ie eth0) instead of the IP to setup your tables.
If you set your mind on setting it up the linux solution then I applaud you but it can be very annoying when things don't work.
