Sets the candidacy of the server when electing a browse master. Used with the domain master or local master options. You can set a higher value than a competing operating system if you want Samba to win. Windows for Workgroups and Windows 95 use 1, Windows NT client uses 17, and Windows NT Server uses 33.
i tried some of what u suggested but ill have to reboot both machines to see if it worked, will try later. Also i have no idea what u are talking about when it comes to the os level

Sorry. I was respond th question you had:
Is it because the XP is master? If so where do i change all
those settings?
I guess I was in a hurry. The post I made was how to change your OS Level and to set up the Linux Box and the Domain Controller, which means it would keep a list of all the Computer Names on the network and respond to a query from other Computers that asled for that list. I think that is a Micro$oft thing.
Just an idea, how about disabling the master browser and domain master browser in Windows XP? In this way, the RH box is guaranteed to be the winner of all elections I think. There is a setting in the registry for this. I cant verify that it will work. My setup is the opposite, browsing the RH box from Windows XP, with the RH box as domain master, master browser and wins server.
