RH9 NIS login error: "home directory does not exist"

Hi-
I finally got NIS authentication going, but every time I try to log in, I get a popup that says "Your home directory is listed as /home/myusername but it does not appear to exist. Do you want to log in with the root dir as your home dir? It is unlikely anything will work unless you use a failsafe option"

You have the choice of "yes" or "no" but either choice just dumps you back to the login prompt.

My goal is to get it to automatically mount the home folder off the server for any user that logs in on any machine. I do NOT want to have to create a folder for each user on each machine! Any ideas?
Thanks!

I'm sure there are "better" ways of doing it, and the promise of auto-mounters is always there... however, I just have my slaved linux boxes NFS mount /home to my master server. That's where my NIS accounts are created anyway...

*just for detail*
My master server has two separate homes, one that exists for the machine (admin) accounts, and another (in true sun fashion, but it is linux) in /exports/home for the user accounts. it's a little manual, but it works for me, and I don't add admin accounts very often

Hi-
Thanks for your reply! I did what you suggested and its working great. I NFS mount the /home off the server and no more login problems. Thanks!
