I have no experience with that sort of device, but a web search for "outdoor wireless access point reviews" will turn up a number of articles and reviews that you may find helpful.
If wireless, you might consider just mounting a directional antenna outdoors. Either it alone, or it plus the access point, can be placed outdoors.
Keep in mind that a lot of materials will block 5GHz better than they will 2.4GHz and that there can be lots of noise interfering with the 2.4GHz options in some environments.
Picks up wireless access points far away. I get good results from my router which has lead lined walls where it is located.
Used to be the xray room in my house.
Been using this setup for years now. The wireless N usb I bought seems pretty rugged. Cuz it gets over 100F here in the summer.
Edit: Antenna was free. Money costs was wireless N usb. USB Cable strong enough to handle outdoor elements.
I came up with the idea and did my own mounting.
I know others have came up with the same idea. After I built mine.
