Problem in Samba Configuration


1. Plz tell me how to place a question in this website,
2. i configured samba Server (smb.conf) ,created an account and also samba account, shared a folder in linux using samba Share, used the same workgroup, Samba Server apears in the My Network Places of winXP, but when i Double click on Samba Server in window My Network Plavces (Workgroup), messge comes, "Samba Server is not accebile, you might have no permissions". Ping from winxp to samba server is also replying,, i can access winxp computer from Linux machine, but From WinXP i cant access Samba Shared Folder(samba Server or Linux Machine), any solution ?

2. please post your smb.conf file. have you set up access to samba in your smb.conf for the use in windows? check /var/log/smb.log (or similar) for more verbose serverside errors.

That sounds like it could be a firewall issue on your Linux machine. As root, execute:

iptables -F

on the Linux machine to flush all the firewall rules, then try to access your Samba server from Windows again.

If that solves the problem, you'll need to disable the firewll if you don't need it or modify it so it allows Samba traffic through.
