PPP Fault tolerance

ok, i've got a mini LAN setup at home, and it goes through my linux box out to the great wide wonderful world of the web. Problem is it goes out through a modem......and as we all know, modems can lose their connections at times. is there anyway to tell me linux box that if ppp0 is down during a certain time of the day, to redial? i have it set to turn off and on at 4am and 8am respectively, but i want it to be able to dial if it goes down during the day if i am not there. help?

acid you are the shit!

You have to use the persist option for pppd.

This should be a setting in whatever you use to bring it up.

Then it will always be connected

also you can set it to bring it up on boot.

I had one on modem for over a year and it was always up.
