NIC on Dell GX240

I am trying to get Slack 10.2 on a Dell GX240. I am using 2.6.13 kernel. The NIC is not picked up automatically.

I am new to Linux and this is the first time that the Nic wasn't picked up.

The machine ran Madriva 10.0 with 2.6.3-7mdk kernel previously and the NIC was picked up fine.

I have no idea on how to go about fixing this. Can anyone give me some pointers?

My suggestion may not be very helpful, but maybe try a different kernel.

GX240 should have built in NIC or you having extra NIC? Have you enabled the NIC? You can check by ifconifg command see if there are eth0 interface. You can aslo try lspci to check the output if there are any Ethernet controller, and it should be some popular brand like intel and 3Com.
