Hey all! I just got my install of SlackWare 10.0 pretty bugged out except for one little thing.
.
I've setup the box to interface with the LAN and internet correctly to the best of my unhelped ability, but I've been having some strange occurences. When I attempt to ping any website or even comps on the network, I get a vanilla unknown host error. GAIM isn't able to connect to the servers, so i cant even get on IM
. However, the really strange part is, it will go to websites. In order to get it to access a website, (I'm using Konqueror right now) I have to enter the site into the address bar, and quickly tap enter twice, otherwise the request times out. I'm currently using SBC Yahoo! DSL (not of my own choosing... sigh) and here is my setup:
Internet -> HomePortal (SBC's device that acts as a WAP, modem, and hub) -> Compaq computer im using to connect to the wireless network (because SBC's wireless reciever sharkfin device refuses to work on linux... this has worked for RH 9.0 in the past) -> slackware box.
I would GREATLY appreciate any help you can give me, and I thank you for taking the time to read this post
..
I am currently using an ethernet card with a RLT8193D chipeset, and I have modified /etc/rc.d/rc.modules to load the proper module.
Thanks in advance,
