Networking Two Home Computers !?


How can I network two computers (p2,p4) together
to share internet / Printing

the p4 has winxp, but my dad want's to change it to REDHAT9

how do we do this ?

How do you connect to the internet? DSL? Cable modem?

Look to see if you can afford a 4 port cable modem switch with a printer port (linksys and d-link are decent choices). Connect your cable modem to the switch, connect your computers to the switch and you are done.

Since you will be installing RedHat 9 on the P4, you can do the following:

The P4 needs two network cards. One network card to connect to the internet (cable modem) and one network card to connect to the P2.
You can also connect the printer to the P4.

With Linux, you will be able to setup internet and printer sharing using the GUI tools.


The most common question is How to setup internet sharing.
