net.ipv4.tcp_syn_retries - how to make change permanent

Hello

I have been asked to modify the net.ipv4.tcp_syn_retries kernel parameter and done so temporarelly using sysctl.

Question is:
Is configuring the parameter through sysctl sufficiant to make it permanent (even after server reboot) or should I modify the kernel.
If the second option apply, please confirm if I should make a new kernel from scratch (make menuconfig etc...) or if there is another way..

I know it sounds silly but I aven't build that many kernels yet, and much less in a prodcution environment.

Thanks
Seb

you can always put those sysctl command on your linux startup scripts such as rc scripts. it depends on which distro ya using.
