I have been using slackware for 2 years now, now I'm on slack 10.
First about network. At home I have LAN with two computers, then a router (which is a gateway and DHCP), which is connected
to my ISP's LAN, in which there is my hosting server located.
I also have windows xp, which is left after my colleague on my pc.
Now when I want to upload to this hosting server my speed is ~5kB/s in Linux, but in windos it's ~500kB/s, 100 times faster. I tried alot of configs, and have done voodoo for past couple of days, nothing seem to help me increase upload speed under linux. There is another thing. When I turn on DMZ on router for my computer, my download speed goes twice as small, from ~1MB/s to ~0.5MB/s, that's in Linux. In windos however, turning DMZ on and off doesn't seem to affect the speed at all
. My router is unknown and probably was bought somewhere for very cheap, it's adapter says D-Link, but nowhere else there is anything, only serial number, but no name of model or name of company. It amazed me, that all that time that I have been suffering uploading those files, it was actually some configuration problem.
Please give me an idea, maybe it's something with firewall or routing or something?? Where to look?
