Linux app similar to VisualRoute or NeoTrace?

I'm attending to a cisco CCNA course, and there they presented NeoTrace as a help full tool. Are there any similar apps that runs under linux? (deb)

Neotrace is presented like this:
" NeoTrace shows you how packets get from your computer to another computer on the Internet by displaying all nodes between your computer and the trace target on a map"

VisualRoute is presented like this:
"VisualRoute provides a graphical traceroute and ping test from your computer to any other network device you choose, useful for pinpointing network connectivity problems and identifying IP address locations."

For a CCNA those tools really *aren't* useful at all. It's nice to maybe get an idea of geographical contexts for IP traffic, but it won't actually help you. In terms of good traceroute equivalents under linux, i would be lost without mtr, that's awesome, as is fping and lft (layer 4 trace)

Tnx for the tip about mtr, didn't know about it. Seems like a great tool.
