Unhappy Linksys WPC11 Version 3

Hello all,

I hope this is a simple question to answer for someone, Here's the diagnostics..
Redhat 8.0, P2 400, 228MB RAM, 10GB HD, Thinkpad 600E, w/ a Linksys WPC11 v.3.

And here's the problem..

The card starts up perfect, jumps on the network, grabs a IP from my homeportal, and for about 1 hr or so.. less depending on the traffic my wireless card just shuts down, I can restart it if I do 'service network restart' but no matter what speed, if I have encryption enabled or not, it always does this, and when I do dmesg, I get this a zillion times from the kernel :

eth0: Error -110 writing Tx descriptor to BAP
eth0: Error -110 writing Tx descriptor to BAP

I am running kernel 2.4.20.. not really sure what to do, is this something everyone experiences or what, can someone possibly help ?

What modules are you using? orinoco_cs or prism2_cs, also what version of the orinoco module if indeed you are using those? if its the stock from 2.4.20 its still .11b I think. There have been a lot of issues with those and v.3 prism cards, which I have heard has been fixed with .13x (avoid .12, Dave admits he botched that series). They compile straight for both in kernel and pcmcia-cs with a straight make, no need to entirely rebuild the kernel!

There's a link to the source in my bookmarks under my profile.

Cheers,

Finegan

Thanks for the reply.

Yes I am running the stock orinoco_cs module, I've went ahead and upgraded to the beta version of the orinoco_cs modules, I presume I should upgrade pcmcia-cs also, because it tells me my card services version is below par. So I guess i'll do that, thanks again.

Talking Working like a charm

Went ahead and upgrade everything related to pcmcia, added the default hermes.conf file, and viola, everything is perfect now. Since that was my last task as far as configuring linux, I think it's time to reap the benefits. Anyway thanks for the tip, without you I dont know where i'd be.
