Is it possible? WiFi + LAN Internet for one / Home Networking for two?

Good Morning everyone.

I have a bit of a dilemma with our home network.
Everything works fine, WiFi or LAN, whichever I decide to use all work as expected.
Our current VPN provider which we've been subscribed to for the past 8 years is not as compatible with MX Linux as we'd like (already contacted PIA support). There's a killswitch in the app which is supposed to allow you to disable VPN and then continue working Online. In reality it simply doesn't matter whether or not the killswitch is being used, as soon as either the desktop app and/or the killswitch are disabled, nothing Online related works anymore. It's been a frustrating issue that I've been dealing with for months.

My final (irritating) solution was to simply make space for a second machine (17 inch laptop) in order to perform any non-vpn related tasks on that machine which is located about 3 ft. away from my primary machine. Problem is that I'm using a USB stick for transferring work data between the two machines since my primary machine is set up to also work with our home network via LAN cables. All of our machines are wired using LAN.

My questions are these ....
Is it possible (and how) to continue having my primary machine connected via LAN to the home network and the Internet, while using a separate WiFi connection in order to connect my primary machine strictly to the second (laptop) machine which would enable me to eliminate the use of a USB stick entirely? Optimally the primary machine is set up once and then left alone, followed by connecting that one to the laptop via WiFi whenever I need to transfer some documents or images that I'm working with.
Years ago there used to be an app for that which worked, Dukto I think the name was ....

Thanks.

Feeling foolish ...
I knew that Dukto had been discontinued years ago, so I automatically figured that it wasn't an option. But MX Linux actually has the working 64 bit version of Dukto in the repositories. Installed it on both machines, created a "Dukto" folder on the laptop, followed by dumping a folder with files in there without a problem.
This thread is solved. Dukto 64 bit still works.
