IP camera and older PAL camera. Will a RJ45 to co-axle dongle do the trick.

I have a network that has several older PAL/NTSC CCTV cameras and wanted to add IP cameras without have to run new cable. It is possible to use the same co-axle that the older CCTV cameras use for the IP cameras. When I say use the older cable for the new IP cameras, I mean using the existing coa-xle cabling and the use a RJ45 to co-axle dongle (converter)on the IP cameras and the same RJ45 ti co-axle on the switch and then to the security system. Will that work?

If the coax cable goes to a BNC connector on a switch then it will work fine (just remember that you may need a 50-ohm terminating resistor at both ends). With any luck the switch will repeat the data on the coax cable at the highest rate on your twisted pair cable; otherwise your entire network may be pulled down to a low speed to match the coax data rates.

Just be sure that BNC connector is for ethernet - BNC is commonly used for video too (especially monochrome).
