Sounds like a DNS problem. Get the correct DNS servers from your ISP settings and put them in /etc/resolv.conf

If your nameservers are (just an example)
192.168.1.15
172.16.3.15

then you would edit /etc/resolv.conf and add the following:

nameserver 192.168.1.15
nameserver 172.16.3.15

make sure those two lines are above any other line that says "nameserver".

Oh, actually I should point out that I'm assuming that you're pining some IP address on the Internet. Could you please be more specific and tell us what it is you're pining that works?

Your Linux box should have an IP on your inside LAN network, unless it's plugged directly into the cable modem (or DSL). The easiest setup would be to plug in the wireless router (check in the web admin and make sure you have a WAN IP) and then give your Linux box an IP on the LAN network that the Linksys router uses. It will probably use 192.168.0.1 for the inside router interface, so use 192.168.0.2 for your Linux box. Make sure you set your default route on Linux to 192.168.0.1 (the inside IP of your Linksys).

Also, check the web admin section of the Linksys for Status. It should list the DNS servers that you got when the Linksys got a DHCP lease from your ISP. Make sure you list those as your "nameserver" entries in /etc/resolv.conf on Linux.
