Impossible to turn BROADCAST mode off on ethernet device

ifconfig eth0 -broadcast does not clear the BROADCAST as indicated in the man ifconfig page. Is there a file associated with BROADCAST that I can comment out?
Any help would be appreciated

What do you mean with 'clear'?
You should have a broadcast-adress for networking to function properly, don't think you can just remove it.
Look in /etc/sysconfig/network or /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
maybe you can comment it out.
