ifconfig RX and TX packets resets at 4 Gib

Hi there,

I have a Slackware 12.0 machine and I noticed that ifconfig output on any interface resets the RX and TX packets to 0 when they reach 3.9 GiB.
What's the reason ? Is it normal ? Everything is working fine on this machine...

That's fine. 4gb = 4294967296 bytes = 2^32. It's just the size of the counter that's tracking the volume, and it rolls over when the size of the variable exceeds the 4 bytes of memory it has to store it in.
