How to make the new IP to take effect without rebooting the system

Hi All,
I am building my own gateway (rh9) that can be managed through HTML interfaces. My question is how to make the new network interface configuration (in /etc/sysconfig/network-script/ifcfg-eth0) to take effect without rebooting the system

I mean if I changed the IP address of eth0 in the file ifcfg-eth0 then can the new changes take effect without rebooting the system?

Regards
Bassam
