How to config 2 NIC cards for a system?

There are 2 NIC cards in the system.
Now the ip is configed in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth0
I only need to /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eth1
that is enough?
Is there any other things to do?

thanks a lot!
