How do ISPs limit download rate per user?
I'd like to know what typical programs ISPs use to meter the download limit of their clients, and hence disconnect/redirect to a default page, if this happens. Thanks!!

Most use cbq.init scripts for Bandwidth Limiting !
Cbq.init
or
CBQ GUI

Maybe I haven't explained myself well, although you directed me to a very good program - what i need is not a bandwidth manager but a download/upload meter which ISPs use to set download/upload limits eg 3GB per month to their ADSL users...
