ftp and vmware not available from internet


have a fedora8 pc. ftp and vmware worked when only one nic was configured. eth0 was set to a static ip available from the Internet. I then put a second nic in and connected it to my private network. After that i could connect to ftp from my internal network but no longer from the Internet (vmware experienced similar results).

What did activating the second nic have to do with the

Here is the output from a few commands that i hope are relavent. 199.72.38.67 is a static ip from our ISP. It is named vm.ivsi.com.

Check your firewall (iptables) settings as well.

iptables output

It looks like the firewall isn't the issue

i disabled eth1. vm and ftp were available eth0 (public nic). i noticed this difference in the route output with eth1 disabled.

default 199.72.38.70 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth0

vs

default 10.114.1.254 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth1

with eth1 enabled.

how can i get the default route to be the first one even with eth1 enabled? (perhaps that will help)
