fedora core hub / no hub problem

Yo,
I'm running fedora core 3 connecting directly to my university's network via my intel pro100 NIC. When I plug directly into the wall, and execute

ifup eth1

everything works great. However, when I run through my netgear en104 tp (10 base-t) hub and then to the wall, it doesn't auto detect. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that my hub is 10 base? Any hints?

My appreciation,
Peter

Both ends of a connection must support autonegotiation for it to work. Yes, that means the HUB.

You'll probably need to use ifconfig to set a speed, or perhaps mii-tool. I'm not quite sure. Of course, the best you'll manage is 10 mbps, half-duplex.
