ethernet card SiS 900-Based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter Not Detected

Hi

I trying to connect internet using ethernet card SiS 900-Based PCI Fast Ethernet Adapter using Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper) Live cd.

I have a cable modem (set top box which provieds cable service + broadband internet)

My system details are

Chipset: VIA 82C3099 rev 0
Superio: Winbond 627F/HF rev 7 found at port 2Eh
CPU: AMD Duron 1150 Mhz MAX: 2000 Mhz

This card is works fine with Windows XP and Puppy Linux 1.0.5 Live cd
but Ubuntu 6.06 (Dapper) Live cd can't detect it.

I tried to run lspci command which came back nothing at all(no out put). and ifconfig commands shows my disabled microsoft loopback adapter only.

Could you please help me with this.

Azhar
